Information.

Mike, Teri
and I spent the weekend at camp. Did a little walking around and
took a drive down Panther Road on Saturday. We drove to the one
gas well that's still spewing flames from the new well. I took
pictures and a couple videos of the area.
Mike and I
discovered that the "drive by" across Panther Run Trail was done
by some honking mulching machine not a 'dozer. We walked the
path behind camp over to below the "Green" camp (which is not green
anymore, it's white - new siding). They ground a path 8 feet wide through the
shrubbery behind camp down to the ground. They mulched bushes,
branches, stumps and even a few rocks while they were at it.
Here's a picture of what it might look like, nasty beast! It's
called a Land Tamer.

When I got back I wrote
to the Forestry District 10 in Renovo and they said the cleared
path was for seismic testing for the underground shale oil in
the area.
That means they drill holes 20 feet deep and set off dynamite
charges.
We walked
the path across the hillside until we could actually see the
Green camp. We turned back because it turned up the steep hill
heading towards the gas line road. Frank will have a shorter
walk out to his stand now.
Later
Saturday afternoon he and I planted about a 2 foot wide by 20
foot long patch of clover and rape seed up above the old pine
tree. If it takes root and grows, I'll bring some equipment out
to plant a bunch more. It will be our food plot unless they
mulch it under or blow it up with dynamite charges!
I took
my archery stuff out and shot a few arrows into in my target. It
took a few rounds to get back in the groove. This year if any
deer walks within 12 feet of my position this year it's toast.
Here's a
bunch of photos from the weekend. I post videos at the bottom of
the page showing the Panther Road well flames and one at camp.
Bear grub hole along our road
While walking, Mike and I spotted this hole along our road just a hundred feet or so up from the out house path. It's on the right side going uphill. It's about a foot deep. Bears are eating good, this was on the new trail behind camp Looking toward camp from mulch trail, flag and camp barely visible through the trees in the center of the picture. We burned the big stump for two days and put a big dent in it. Panther Road well from State Line Road well, flames just above trees While driving Saturday afternoon we spotted this hawk which flew across the road and landed in this tree. Mike pointing down the hill to the old pine tree behind camp Heading back to camp, Mike standing on mulch trail. This is looking towards Rainbow Trail. To much walking for Mike, he needed a Geez Break. About 50 feet off the road this trail is ground down to mulch. This is looking toward "Green" camp. Old pine tree is off to the left Here is where the mulched trail comes down to our road from the open field behind camp. The first fifty feet or so is just mashed down, the mulching starts further in. On the right side of the road (heading up) the brush is just mashed down too for a short distance. The mulching starts further in and continues toward the Rainbow Trail. Here's the old pine tree in the clearing up behind camp over in the corner. Just up from the old dead pine looking towards camp Here's the Panther Road well spewing flames and noise. I took this through the window of truck. I got out and took a couple more shots Terri ponders the bug candle. They were real pesky this weekend. Lots of flies in the outhouse too.
