SpringFling 2006 |
Here are some pictures from the Spring Fling trip 10-12 March 2006. Charlie, Elmo, Mike, Joe, Joe's son Sean and I (Steve) were there.
Some of these pictures are the first time many of you will "see" what's upstairs in the "attic". I stuck the camera through the vents to see if I could determine what the wiring was like and where it ran. I finally discovered the power for the bunk area lights comes from the front porch outside as you can see in atticwire6 picture. The wiring pictures will make it easier for me to layout a plan to replace the older stuff. The wires in the attic from the light out to the switches are newer. The wire to the light from the porch is the old original 2 wire stuff. You can see where Mike and I spliced into the light for the new switches in atticwire3.
The other photos are of the guys around camp and our trip to look for the camp Elmo thought had a Ram Pump setup. We finally found it down in the valley on Fisher Fire Road after running down and back De Hass Road, down Hicks Road and up Penrose Road and finally back towards our Camp when Charlie remembered where he picked blueberries one time down Fisher Fire Road. The camp is called Dark Hollow and almost at the end of the road which is dead ended about 1/4 mile further down.
We discovered they just used a gravity feed from a concrete tank up the hill from the camp. The black pipe just feeds the entrance valve as seen in darkhollow5 picture. They don't have a pump or at least not anymore. Mike can be seen opening up a stainless steel tank with some outlet pipe fittings but nothing connects to it anymore. We suspect it was used as a settling tank to let sand and stuff settle before running it into the camp.
We also looked at the clearing at camp for a food plot. We decided it had to be down in the southwest corner towards the Green Camp to keep from spotting it form our road. It will be mucho work!
The last 3 pictures are actually links to some short videos I took.
Camp1 shows Elmo, Mike and Charlie cleaning off the top of the cabinets
Friday. You can see how the generator from GeneratorDepot.us is causing
the lights to flicker. We had to shut it down and put my Yamaha on line.
The next is Camp2 on Saturday morning and Camp3 is outside the camp. These
are pretty big so anyone on a slow connection will need lots of time to
load them. This was just a test and the images are not too good because
I had to squeeze them down to around 2Meg from over 38 Meg so I probably
won't be uploading many more videos. I'll burn them to CD or DVD for anyone
who wants them .
