Information.

I had a dozen carbon arrows made to go along with the half dozen
that came with the new Fred Bear "Truth" bow. This dozen were
fletched with plastic vanes, the original 6 had feathers.

The bow had to go back to the dealer for cable replacement.
After getting it back I started shooting again to
get the "feel" for it. The changes made during repair gave it a
different feel than it first had, a change for the better. It
pulled smoother and the let-off felt more solid.

Anyway, I tinkered with it a bit as I shot it several dozen
times. I adjusted the sight a little to center up groups and
brought the draw weight up to 55 pounds as measured on a pull
weight gauge.
After a few hours it was time to test it with broadheads. I
pulled the field points from a couple feathered arrows then
tried to pull one from the vane arrows. It refused to
budge! I pulled the rest of the feathered arrows with no
problem.
I tried the remainder of the vane arrows and got 6 points loose
with no problem. Three others were really stuck so I set them
aside. Two points came out with some effort but had something
that turned out to be glue
around the threads.

One arrow snapped apart just below the insert. I guess I
must have twisted too hard or bent it during the process. That
ticked me off.

I put it aside and tried the remaining three points. One point came
free after much work, one refused to move at all and one came
out along with the insert! After some work I got the point out
of the loose insert then I used a mini tap and die set to clean
up the threads of all the inserts and points and put the points
back in.

So out of the dozen arrows with vanes, I have 9 that I can
switch points, 1 that will be a field point forever, 1 that
might be fixable and one that is trash.
I will make my own arrows from now on. I'm gathering
arrow building supplies. I made
an arrow saw but it was too wimpy so I bought a commercial
saw. I will slowly gather the
remaining bits and pieces. My oldest grandson wants some
aluminum arrows for his longbow so that might be the first
project.
After all this I decided to check the arrows
again. I mixed them up and shot into my target located in the
wooden barn in the back yard. It's about 20 yards. Here's what
it looks like standing next to the house.

Here's where the arrows hit.

Nice group, then the wind really started
blowing. The next group was about double this size. so I
quit for the day.
